Leadership Support Board
The role of the Leadership Support Board is to encourage support for the rostered staff of this Synod and those in training for leadership. LSB's responsibilities include: continuing education, congregation council, officer training, staff support. The board has developed long term goals that would allow us to fulfill our stated purpose.
1. Encourage support for seminaries
In its budget recommendation for fiscal year 2005 the Board included full funding of the Synod's proportionate share for the support of PLT and Luther Seminaries,
2. Encourage support for theological training
In addition to seminary support, the Board's budget includes support for the Institute for Theological Study which affords place bound persons the opportunity to complete much of their theological training in the Northwest.
3. Support continuing education opportunities for rostered persons
The budget that the Leadership -Board recommends includes the funding of this Synod's proportionate shard of LENS, which provides a number of opportunities for continuing education as well as theological training. The Leadership board also manages the Continuing Education Fund, which provides assistance to rostered persons with continuing education expense.
4. Support programs that provide for spiritual renewal for rostered persons
From its program budget, the Board provides partial support for a leadership development program and a number of special retreats and workshops. Partial 'support for "Prayer For All Seasons” is one example.
5. Support training for specialized ministries
The Board recommends a budget for interim ministries management and supports ministers in specialized care settings.
6. Support faith formation and leadership development in laypersons
In its 2005 budget recommendations, the Board includes financial support for the training of those participating in the Community of Lay Ministers program.
