“The Balancing Act of Pastoral Leadership”
What pastoral roles garner the most energy and passion for you? What aspects of leadership do you find the most draining and difficult? What functions get most of your time?
At our next Bishop’s Convocation (Jan 25-26, 2011), at the Seabeck Conference Center, we will examine the many roles pastors fill by hearing from colleagues who have a gift and love for a specific aspect of pastoral leadership. Each presenter will adddress why a particular role is crucial and examine its benefits and pitfalls. After the presntations, we will have more time to reflect on what roles we enjoy and what roles congregations expect us to engage in (vs. which ones we think they need.) Finally, through conversation with each others, we hope to find encouragement and resources in living out these various roles- resources for “the balancing act of pastoral leadership”.
Mark your calendars: January 24-25, 2012 (with special guest Rev. Dr. Terry Fretheim of Luther Seminary) and January 29-30, 2013 (where Bishop Hofstad will be our featured speaker in his final years as bishop).
